Niche Target Markets
You might be from the boomer generation and still be dreaming about working for yourself and online. It may now even be more of a necessity to learn the basics of niche marketing.
A Quick Start Guide To Profitable Niche Marketing For The Over 40’s
An article by Mark Bishop
This article is offered only as simple outline for those of you who missed out on the whole techy thing due to age, Hey, please don’t take that as an insult, I’m 43, & when I was growing up in the seventies the only gadget I owned was a Casio digital watch. I just happen to think that that us technophobe forty something s are a little disadvantaged when it comes to niche marketing and indeed all web marketing.
If you would like a more in-depth step by step guide on finding and marketing a profitable niche marketing mini-site take a look at my site which contains free guides on setting up the whole process.
So Exactly What is Niche Marketing?
A niche market is a simple term used to describe a sub section of a larger market, for example a niche marketing website or niche marketer will research and target a smaller, more focused subset sector of a larger market.
The premise to profitable niche marketing, is relatively simple: find a market your either interested in or a market which you think will be profitable and start dissecting it up into smaller segments until you arrive in a sector with little competition, but still has a healthy amount of traffic.
So What is a Successful Niche Market?
An ideal niche market is one where there is an interest from a small but sizeable group of interested individuals ‘niche market’, this should ideally be a market niche where no one, or very few are fulfilling the markets needs. So we can serve them.
Two good examples of off-line successful niche market businesses are McDonald’s and Starbucks.. Why?…..McDonald’s carved themselves a successful business niche out of a huge restaurant industry, by catering for people on the move or in a hurry, they offered fast food to a busy USA (well it was fast back then anyway). McDonald’s capitalized on a seemingly small niche and dominated it. Starbucks did the very same thing, who would of thought you could build a multinational business on nothing more than coffee?.
So How Do You Find A Profitable Niche Market?
There is a knack to finding profitable niche markets, but it’s a knack that can be learnt by anyone, you don’t need to be some kind of internet wizard to master this procedure, get rid of all the hype surrounding niche marketing and you’ll find a viable business which anyone can operate.
The trick to coming up with a successful niche market is best tackled in-depth so take a look at my free step by step guides.
When you’ve located your niche market you will carry out some relevant research, possibly build your own product to suite the niche or sign up to promote someone else’s product as an affiliate, whereby you receive a percentage of the sale for your marketing efforts, or you could do both which is my favourite method as it offers me the best possible chance of profiting from each visit to my niche marketing site.
Marketing Your Site.
Again the subject of marketing your niche website is probably best taught through a more in-depth article, having said that my personal favourite method of marketing my niche marketing web-sites is through unique content article distribution.
Here’s How:
OK, so you write your articles, I normally try to write around 20 to start with, I try to get the most relevant keywords into each article (while leaving it looking natural), now take all of your articles and add them to your website, even if its just a sales page at present.
why do this?.
Providing good, relevant and original content is the best way to climb google ranks, and Google loves it. Believe me if all you’ve got at the moment is just a fancy sales page, think again, you’ll struggle to rank well, and your share of organic traffic will be non-existent, you need good and original content. If you put in the time & do the work at this point it will pay for itself very quickly and most importantly your efforts will keep on paying off.
Now you need to submit your article’s to the top PR rated article sites, you could use an article submitter to get your articles posted all over the web quickly, but in my opinion submitting to the top rated sites (around 6) will get you far better results, plus if you go overboard with submission software chances are Google will penalise your website (it happened to me, so be warned).
Here’s an example of what just one well placed article site can do for you new niche marketing business: ‘Ezinearticles’ has a PR6 rating at the time of writing, I wrote a series of 12 articles over a couple of weeks regarding a health niche i was involved in, from those 12 articles I received almost 1400 views, resulting in 987 unique hits on my URL (visits to my niche site), this was in the space of just six weeks and for only submitting to one good article site. So there you have it, this is in my opinion the quickest and best way to get your niche marketing business off to a flying start.
